Says Alec Stewart:
"The Leagues sound very exciting and very necessary
with nothing else around to fill the gap. It is so
good to know people are trying to do the right things."
- 'the Gaffer' continued: "If I can help in any
small way then I am more than happy to assist WISE
in helping the game of cricket in general. Keep up
the great work."

The Barmy Army
Three
new sponsors will be supporting development and colts
cricket in Middlesex and the Thames Valley - Beds, Berks,
Bucks, Herts and Oxfordshire.
Russell
Grant, Celebrity Fit Club Star and a founder
of the Federation of Middlesex & City of London
Sports welcomed three new sponsors to the FMS youth/colts
summer leagues now in its third season.
The
Summer Leagues originally started in 2004 when a number
of clubs asked the FMS to run flexi-leagues for young
players after the MCA season finished during the school
holidays.
Russell
says "This is going to be the biggest and best season
so far!" - we are inviting clubs not only from the first
class County of Middlesex but also from our friends
in minor counties surrounding the Capital County".
"A
close relationship with the Middlesex Colts Association
and the Middlesex Academy at Finchley makes it obvious
that the league must be extended to cover a greater
area - and with the sub academy open to players from
Middlesex's neighbours, currently - Raheel Zaman - Thatcham
CC - Berkshire - James Hammerton - Beaconsfield CC -
Bucks - Alistair Birkby - Chesham CC - Bucks and soon
to welcome two players one from Oxfordshire and one
from Bedfordshire it can only benefit all clubs and
counties with the chance of England benefiting in the
end."
"It
with this in mind we welcome and invite clubs from Middlesex
- Berkshire - Bedfordshire - Buckinghamshire - Hertfordshire
and Oxfordshire to enjoy our development and summer
leagues and play to win what our sponsors generously
offer. All money won must be invested into colts cricket
in the winning club."
SAYS TOBY RADFORD of the MIDDLESEX ACADEMY
"I
am delighted that the summer league will be extending
to Middlesex's neighbouring minor counties. It is in-keeping
with recent moves made at The Academy to find and nurture
high quality young cricketers in those counties and
to offer the them further opportunities to develop their
game."
"Russell's continued support of the youth leagues is
hugely appreciated by Middlesex CCC and plays an important
part in the county's youth development programme."
